Housekeeping Manager

STATUS:            Permanent, Full-Time, Salary, Benefits, Pension

REPORTS TO:  Director of Operations & Operations Manager               

LOCATION:      Tribute Communities Centre (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada)


• Ability to supervise, train, motivate and lead the housekeeping team of approximately 30-40 P/T staff.

• Prior work experience in a unionized environment is preferred.

• Working knowledge of chemical cleaning procedures.
• Working knowledge of custodial machines including vacuum cleaners, extraction cleaners, pressure washers, riding scrubbers, sweeping machines, walk-behind scrubbers, etc…
• Familiarity with WSIB requirements and facility safety programs, policies, and operating procedures.
• Ability to read, interpret and keep MSDS sheets up to date, train staff on proper chemical handling and usage.
• Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple assignments and meet strict deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to function in fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Self-motivated and responsible, able to work independently. This position is a hands-on working role.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.


• Select, train, schedule, motivate and evaluate housekeeping personnel; provide or coordinate staff training and safety programs.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and outside contractors.
• Employee Relations; Submit housekeeping department timesheets on a weekly basis to HR for processing; Correct employee deficiencies; implement discipline and work with HR on personnel issues.
• Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for housekeeping personnel; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor workflow; inspect work product of subordinates to ensure accuracy/timeliness of completion; meet with staff to review/evaluate work products, methods and procedures as well as identify/resolve challenges.
• Order, receive, secure, and neatly maintain cleaning supplies and equipment. Perform quarterly inventory inspections on all equipment and supplies.
• Coordinate/maintain a programmed facility cleaning schedule while balancing the cleaning of arena events 7 days a week.
• Oversee/direct all aspects of a major event cleaning & post-cleaning including; pick and sweeping of seats, trash removal, restroom cleaning, compactor operation, and floor care.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings to review task assignments, delegate work, and assign breaks. Perform and/or delegate other duties assigned by the Director of Operations and/or Operations Manager.
• Ensure equipment and resources are in place to perform the job efficiently, effectively, and safely.
• Train staff to operate riding scrubbers, carpet extractors, floor buffers, and other cleaning equipment.
• Must have basic computer skills in email, internet, MS Excel & MS Word.
• Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnights, weekends, stat holidays, extended (long) work days, and extended numbers of days.


• In this role, the Housekeeping Manager’s shifts are often outside the hours of public transportation, requiring the incumbent to have a valid driver’s licence and/or access to a motorized vehicle.

Conversion Staff

As a valuable member of the Conversion team, you will deliver championship service throughout the organization.  Under the direction of the Operations Manager/Conversion Supervisor, you will be responsible for the setup/take down of the Facility events.   

TITLE: Conversion Staff

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager/Conversion Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Operations


  • Convert seating, boards, glass, staging, etc. between events/games in a safe, timely and efficient manner
  • Communicate positively and professionally with internal customers and co-workers to meet organizational goals
  • Ensure work area and equipment is clean and organized at all times
  • Work diligently to ensure the safety of self and others at all times
  • Adhere to all Spectra Venue Management service standards and policies
  • Perform all other duties as assigned


  • Available to work the overnight shift and weekends with some flexibility for late afternoon shifts
  • Previous experience in general labour/construction is an asset
  • Ability to work while under pressure; meet tight deadlines
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, move in repetitive motions, etc.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50lbs unaided
  • Safety boots required, Uniform top provided
  • Positive team spirit and a professional winning attitude
