NATIONAL LACROSSE LEAGUE'S FIREWOLVES RELOCATE TO OSHAWA'S TRIBUTE COMMUNITIES CENTRE

Aug 19 / 2025

Oak View Group is proud to announce that the Tribute Communities Centre will become the new home of the National Lacrosse League’s FireWolves, beginning with the upcoming season starting in November. The franchise, previously based in Albany, New York, will now call Oshawa and the Durham Region its home, bringing world-class professional lacrosse to one of Canada’s most passionate sports markets.

“It’s an honour to welcome the FireWolves organization, National Lacrosse League, players, and fans to the Tribute Communities Centre,” said Andrew Nash, General Manager for Oak View Group. “Their arrival marks a new chapter for professional sports in our city and reflects our commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for the community.”

The FireWolves will join the storied Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League as tenants of the Tribute Communities Centre, marking another milestone for a venue long recognized as one of the premier sports and entertainment facilities in Ontario.

The announcement comes on the heels of the City of Oshawa’s historic commitment to invest $50 million in the modernization of the Tribute Communities Centre, part of a 30-year partnership with the Oshawa Generals and Oak View Group. The planned enhancements include a main entrance expansion, upgraded fan amenities, interior renovations, an updated concession area, and seating for a minimum of 7,000 fans. The project will also relocate the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame to a prime new location in front of the TCC, giving 24/7 visibility to Oshawa’s rich sports heritage.

“We are excited to welcome the FireWolves and the National Lacrosse League to the great City of Oshawa and to the Tribute Communities Centre,” stated Mayor Dan Carter of the City of Oshawa. “With $50 million in upgrades underway, the venue is being modernized to deliver an exceptional fan experience and world-class amenities for athletes. We look forward to cheering on the FireWolves and can’t wait to welcome players and fans to experience all that our community has to offer.”

Since opening in 2006, the Tribute Communities Centre has hosted over seven million fans for marquee concerts, major international competitions, and championship-caliber hockey. With the arrival of the FireWolves, the venue further strengthens its reputation as a hub for elite sport and live entertainment.
