TRIBUTE COMMUNITIES CENTRE GENERAL MANAGER VINCE VELLA ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT AFTER 20 YEARS OF SERVICE
After more than two decades of dedicated service, Vince Vella, General Manager of the Tribute Communities Centre for Oak View Group (OVG), has announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2025.
To ensure a smooth transition and continued operational excellence, OVG, the venue’s operator, today named Andrew Nash, the new General Manager of Tribute Communities Centre. Nash, who will officially begin his new role on July 1, 2025, most recently was General Manager of Hamilton’s arena and concert hall for OVG.
Oak View Group, the global leader in live event venue development and management and hospitality services, has managed the TCC since 2008.
“Vince has played an integral role in the success of Tribute Communities Centre,” said Greg O’Dell, President of Venue Management at OVG. “His visionary leadership has been essential in defining the venue’s success and identity. We are grateful for all that he has contributed to us, the arena, and the surrounding community.”
“Andrew brings extensive experience in managing various OVG properties across Canada. We are confident that he will further establish Tribute Communities Centre as a cornerstone of Oshawa, providing unforgettable experiences and attracting top-tier live entertainment,” added O'Dell.
“Vince is a trusted partner who has driven significant change to position the TCC as an award winning, world-class, must play destination,” said Stephanie Sinnott, Commissioner, Corporate and Finance Services/City Treasurer, City of Oshawa. “He has aligned his leadership with the City’s values to create transformational customer service experiences. The City is appreciative for all of Vince’s contributions to our community and wish him well in retirement. "The City is pleased to welcome Andrew to Oshawa and is confident that his wealth of experience will help shape the future of the venue."
The City of Oshawa recently announced a 30-year partnership with Oak View Group and the Oshawa Generals Hockey Club. The announcement included the City’s $50 million investment to modernize the Tribute Communities Centre, with enhancements including a new prime location for the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame.
Throughout his tenure, Vella brought numerous high-profile events to the venue, including the 2011 NHL Rookie Tournament, Skate Canada National Events (2009 and 2018), Grand Slam of Curling Series (2011 and 2015), and the 2016 CrossFit Invitational. The Tribute Communities Centre also played host to some of the world’s biggest stars, including Elton John, KISS, Selena Gomez, Luke Combs, Eric Church, and Jerry Seinfeld. The venue has also become a go-to destination for family entertainment, welcoming events such as Disney On Ice, Cirque du Soleil, WWE, and The Wiggles.
"I am proud of all we have accomplished over the years here in Oshawa, and confident that the venue is in a strong position to achieve continued success as a leader in the sports and entertainment industries,” said Vella. “I have known and worked with Andrew for many years. He has a genuine passion for our industry and has excelled at every stage of his career, starting from his early days as a rink rat in Kitchener to his most recent role as the General Manager of First Ontario Centre for OVG in Hamilton. I am certain that Andrew will play a key role in leading our Oshawa team and venue into the future, ensuring that this market remains a sought-after event destination."
Nash brings more than two decades of industry experience to his new role in Oshawa. Prior to his role in Hamilton, he served as General Manager of the Abbotsford Centre (2014–2019), Assistant General Manager and Director of Operations at the Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek (2008–2014), all for OVG, and held roles in operations positions at the arenas in Mississauga and Kitchener.
